Win concert tickets for the Cologne Philharmonie and a breakfast with its artistic director and festival director Louwrens Langevoort

Is that art or can we toss it? Modern art is not always recognizable at first glance. It is similar with new music, which often meets with consternation, incomprehension and rejection from listeners unfamiliar with the genre. There is a frequent joke that it’s hard to tell the orchestra’s tuning from the actual piece: both sound chaotic. Novelty always has a hard time. But what about the unfamiliar, once one has given up the concept of needing to understand it? What happens when we just let the sound affect us, unfiltered? Enabling the ear to learn new combinations of sounds? Try it out and let others share your experience. 

The Festival ACHT BRÜCKEN | Musik für Köln gives you the unique opportunity to have your personal listening experience and then report about it constructively by writing a review. You will have the opportunity to attend a concert in which one of the most renowned and established contemporary music ensembles will perform compositions of today – including a world premiere – in perfect acoustic surroundings. As a special bonus, the three best reviews will win a prize.

The Concert

How to Participate

Please register for the competition by May 1, 2018. The registration form can be downloaded here. After registering, you will receive a press kit with information on the concert, including 1 x 2 complimentary tickets to the concert at the Cologne Philharmonie on May 11 at 8 pm. After the concert, write your review (in German) and email it to presse@achtbruecken.de by May 18, 2018. The best reviews will be chosen by May 30, 2018.
